Certainteed – “No Net Increase!”
Call, write or email the five members of the ACC Industrial Development Authority (IDA).
- Ask them to modify the initial Certainteed bond resolution – which is nonbinding -- to encourage new jobs while requiring no net increase in air pollution.
- Tell them we want more jobs with less pollution — that we don't want to sacrifice our health, our quality of life, our schools, nearby small businesses, or our capacity for attracting clean industries.
- Start with the Mayor, as she is the chief proponent of this misguided subsidy. Commissioner Dodson agrees with us; the others need to be convinced.

March to Stop Poisoning Our Community
Nakanishi Manufacturing Corporation releases massive amounts of TCE, a dangerous, cancer-causing chemical. This single plant releases half of all the TCE released by industries in the State of Georgia and is the 14 th largest source in the U.S.
Besides its workers, Nakanishi is needlessly endangering everyone at Coile Middle School, the New Grove Baptist Church, a maternity shop, and people who live near the plant – like those on Pittard Road who have a high cancer rate. Safer alternatives exist and much of industry has abandoned this dangerous, chemical. But Nakanishi is seeking a permit to continue releasing up to 100 tons per year of deadly TCE . Come help us tell President Kunio Kanaeda:

La Planta de Nakanishi emite cantidades masivas de TCE, una sustancia química peligrosa y cancerígena. Esta planta emite la mitad de todo el TCE que es producido en el estado de Georgia y es la 14 mayor de los Estados Unidos.
Además de poner en peligro a sus propios trabajadores Nakanishi también pone en peligro a todos en la escuela Coile Middle School, en la iglesia New Grove Baptist Church y a los que viven cerca de la planta quienes sufren un alto índice de cáncer.
Existen alternativas más seguras y ya muchas industrias han abandonado esta dañina sustancia química. Nakanishi, sin embargo, está tratando de obtener un permiso para continuar diseminando al medio ambiente hasta 100 toneladas por año de la peligrosa sustancia química.
